BroadSoft and C3IP Debuts First-ever VoIP Mashup with ACT! at ITEXPO

BroadSoft and C3IP will debut the first-ever VoIP mashup with ACT! by Sage at INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & Expo.

This is just the start of some really cool news coming out of ITEXPO. I expect some more interesting news announcements tomorrow when the exhibit hall opens in the morning. The exhibit hall will be open tonight from 6pm-8pm, but tomorrow is really considered the main exhibit hall opening and when many companies announce their big news.

In any event, here's the announcement about the VoIP mashup...

Integration with Carrier-grade VoIP Adds Calling Feature to Popular Contact And Customer Management Application

MIAMI, Jan. 23, 2008 — BroadSoft, Inc., a leading provider of VoIP application software, and C3IP Communications, LLC, a provider of hosted voice, video and data IP solutions for business, today announced that the two companies will debut the first-ever “VoIP AddOn” for the ACT! by Sage contact and customer management software application at the ITEXPO held here from Jan. 23 to 25.

The VoIP AddOn developed by C3IP seamlessly integrates ACT! with BroadSoft’s carrier-grade BroadWorks® VoIP application platform, the platform of choice among leading service providers for the delivery of hosted telephony, multimedia and unified communications and mobile services. The VoIP AddOn solution enables call management capabilities within ACT! for BroadWorks end-users.

ACT! Add-on solutions extend the functionality of ACT! and are marketed directly to ACT! users. The BroadWorks-based VoIP AddOn is not yet available through ACT! Add-on. ACT! has 2.8 million registered users and an additional 43,000 corporate account customers.

“We are proud to be the first to integrate call control with ACT!,” said Cory Miller, Principal of C3IP. “Integrating ACT!, the No. 1 rated contact and customer management solution, with BroadSoft’s proven telephony platform increases productivity through easy to use features, such as click to dial from the database, automatic logging of calls and screen pops on inbound calls.”

The BroadWorks-based VoIP AddOn for ACT! enables:
• Automatic screen pops from CRM database records based on Caller ID
• Complete call history automatically embedded into each ACT! database record
• Note taking for each call during and/or after the call
• “Click to Dial” Contacts directly from your ACT! Database
• Convenient storage of voicemails in ACT! contact’s history
• Receive voice mail messages via email (.wav file)
• 4-digit extension dialing from ACT!, even to coworkers located in different cities.

“When you combine the market leader in VoIP applications with ACT!, a pioneer of customer relationship management, you unleash a powerful joint solution for businesses of all sizes,” said Michael Lauricella, director of BroadSoft Xtended, the company’s open development program. “C3IP has proven the flexibility of the BroadWorks platform to create new, exciting service offerings that add value for the end-user.”

C3IP developed the VoIP AddOn using BroadWorks APIs (Open Client Interface – Provisioning and Client Application Protocol) in partnership with a leading Add-on developer for ACT!.

C3IP will conduct live demos of the BroadWorks VoIP AddOn for ACT! in the BroadSoft booth (Booth #1026) at the ITEXPO from Jan. 23 to 25. To request a meeting, click here or contact Ira Feuerstein at 480-751-4070

BroadSoft and JoeDeveloper.NET Debut Facebook VoIP App

JoeDeveloper.NET has quickly developed a Facebook VoIP app called Click2Message that uses BroadSoft’s carrier-grade Broadworks Platform. BroadSoft aims to have developers use their platform to develop VoIP applications. Comparisons of course will be made with Ribbit, which launched late last year and which also is targeting developers. And then of course there are plenty of companies out there offering VoIP widgets & call me buttons that you can place on a website - including but not limited to Skype, Jangl, Jaxtr, and TringMe. Lypp, run by former TMCnet SIPThat blogger Erik Lagerway also offers a development platform for VoIP applications.

So while what BroadSoft has done is nothing new, BroadSoft has certainly been on the leading edge of offering VoIP integration into business applications. For instance at INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & Expo, BroadSoft and C3IP debuted the first-ever VoIP mashup with ACT! by Sage.

News release after the jump...

New BroadSoft Xtended Developers Program spurs creation of Web 2.0 mashups with BroadWorks advanced voice applications

JoeDeveloper.NET, a voice services application developer, and BroadSoft, Inc., a leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced the launch of the first-ever mashup of carrier-grade VoIP features with Facebook®. JoeDeveloper.NET’s Facebook application, called Click2Message, integrates with BroadSoft’s award-winning BroadWorks® VoIP application platform. With Click2Message, Facebook users can enable their friends and colleagues to call them via their Facebook profiles with just one click.

The Click2Message application enables click-to-dial calling using any device—home phone, mobile or office desk phone. Facebook users can add the application to their profile pages, allowing their networks of friends and business connections to call them, without revealing their own phone numbers to the caller. The basic version of the Click2Message application is now available free of charge to any U.S.-based Facebook user.

"This is the first Facebook application to bring high-quality, carrier-grade VoIP to Facebook users," said Joseph Farrar, president of JoeDeveloper.NET, located in Las Vegas. "With this application, users not only get a handy feature that streamlines their communication with friends and colleagues—they get the caliber of service offered by the BroadWorks platform.”

JoeDeveloper.NET is part of the new BroadSoft Xtended Developers Program (http://developer.broadsoft.com), which gives developers access to APIs for the creation of new applications integrated with BroadSoft’s BroadWorks advanced voice features. The Click2Message Facebook application is available on both Facebook and BroadSoft’s Xtended Marketplace (http://marketplace.broadsoft.com), an online portal where developers can promote their mashups to the millions of BroadSoft global end-users and its hundreds of service provider customers.

Telecom service providers use BroadSoft’s VoIP application software to deliver IP-based communications services to businesses and consumers. A sample of BroadSoft’s nearly 300 customers includes Tier 1 carriers Verizon, Etisalat (UAE) and Cable & Wireless Jamaica, and competitive operators SimpleSignal, XO Communications and Internode (Australia).

“JoeDeveloper’s Click2Message application exemplifies the spirit of the Xtended Developers Program,” said Michael Lauricella, director of BroadSoft Xtended, the company’s Web 2.0 initiative. “It’s an example of an enterprising developer coming up with an application that can then be used by a potential audience of millions of end-users.

“Our Xtended Developers Program was built to help developers monetize their apps,” continued Lauricella. “That’s what is happening with JoeDeveloper.NET, which has been contacted by some of our service provider customers about developing customized versions of his Facebook application for their consumer services subscribers.”

JoeDeveloper.NET will soon release a premium version of Click2Message that will include the following advanced features:

• Low-cost outbound calling
• Call forwarding
• Do Not Disturb
• Voicemail-to-text transcription

Visit the BroadSoft Xtended booth (#220) at Web 2.0 Expo from April 23 to 25 for a live demo of the Click2Message Facebook application.
